Build Me Up goes to Berlin!

The British Shorts Film Festival has selected Build Me Up.

Surprise! Another festival adventure for Vera and Sprocket is upon us.

This time, the robots are heading over to Berlin for the 17th edition of the fantastic British Shorts Film Festival, where we’ll be in fine company (including some other great NFTS directing animation alumni).

This is a great festival making use of interesting venues across the city, and I wish I could be there to meet and mingle with everyone. Build Me Up will screen in the final screening of the festival at the City Kino Wedding, taking place on Wednesday. 24 January 2024. Also in this screening are the Student Academy Award winning film Mum’s Spaghetti, by Lisa Kenney (a fellow NFTS grad) and Visible Mending, by Samm Moore, recently longlisted for the Best British Short Animation BAFTA. A huge thanks to BSFF for selecting us; I hope anyone lucky enough to be going has a fabulous time! If you’re one of those people, do send a few snaps won’t you?

Steve Lawson

Hello there! I’m Steve. Director, Writer, Story Artist & Animator. I’m based in York, UK, but travel up and down the country as needed to help other artists and studios tell great stories. In addition, I lecture part-time on the BA Animation degree at the Northern School of Art, where I work with our team as well as our Aardman partners to prepare our budding animators for our exciting industry. When I’m not doing this, I like to maintain, design and consult on Squarespace websites; something I’ve done since 2013.
